HOW TO QUALIFY AS A DRIVING INSTRUCTOR

To qualify as a driving instructor you must first apply to be added onto the official DVSA register of instructors. Each application is assessed to verify that you are a ‘fit and proper person’ to be added onto the register. A current DBS (England) / PVG (Scotland) check will be completed.

You will need to sit and pass three tests known as Part One, Part Two and Part Three. These tests are quite demanding and will require preparation in advance of taking them so please don’t think it’s an easy process. You can take part one as many times as you need to pass it. However, for parts two and three, you are limited to three attempts only for each and if you are not successful you will be excluded from the process for two years after which you will need to start the whole process from the beginning.
